Top 10 Star Wars Party Ideas for Children and Adults

DIY Lightsaber Glowstick- To save your little ones from causing injury with a real lightsaber, we recommend this creative idea. Buy a packet of glow sticks from a supermarket or party shop and wrap a small amount of duct tape (grey tape) around one end of the glow stick. Then use a permanent marker to draw lines and buttons to make it look like the handle of a real lightsaber.

Pin the Lightsaber on Yoda- For an activity to keep your party guests from getting bored, we love this idea of creating a pin the lightsaber on Yoda. Obviously, we mean a picture of Yoda, the real Yoda wouldn’t be impressed with having young children trying to stick a lightsaber on him. “I think, a bad idea, that is”.

For this game, find and print a picture of Yoda (if you search on Pinterest you will find some free printable images) and lots of smaller lightsaber pictures. Set your guests the task of trying to stick the lightsaber closest to the correct position on Yoda whilst blindfolded. The person who gets it the closest wins.
Death Star Piñata- This idea requires some effort, unless you can find a shop which sells a Death Star Piñata. If you want to make it yourself then you will need; papier mache which is made from glue, water and newspaper or kitchen towel. Track down some of them large punching balloons attached to an elastic band that you can get for children, these work the best. The process requires you to cover the balloon in papier mache, then wait for it to dry before popping the balloon inside. To create the concave details that the death star has on its surface, cut circular holes in the papier mache and then turn them the other way and tape it back on. Decorate however you want, but refer to images of the death star so you can get it as realistic as possible.

Homemade Lightsaber Balloons- For this idea you can use long balloons or those pool noodles. Decorate it similar to the glow stick idea mentioned earlier, stick grey tape or duct tape around one end of the balloon/noodle and then decorate with marker by adding authentic lightsaber details.

Homemade Stormtrooper Balloons- You could not think of a cheaper alternative for decoration ideas than this one. Buy a packet of white balloons from any party shop, buy a black permanent marker, and draw a storm trooper face on each balloon. Having these scattered round the house will keep your party guests in check! Instructions found on our Pinterest Board

Stormtrooper Marshmallows- This is a simple and creative idea that is fun and edible! All you require is some white marshmallows, some cocktail sticks, and an edible black marker pen. You will find the drawing technique on our Pinterest Star Wars party board which you will find the link to at the bottom of the page.

Party Food- Labelling your party food with Star Wars inspired names such as Ham Solo Sandwiches, and Yoda Soda will make lunch time great fun for all. You can find printable labels and name ideas on our Pinterest board

Pass the Thermal Detonator – A Star Wars themed pass the parcel. Use metallic tissue paper to wrap each layer of the parcel in, remembering to wrap the last layer in red so they know. Stick a treat to each layer, and add in some little rules to get the fun started. If the child takes longer than 5 seconds to unwrap a layer then the thermal detonator will ‘explode’, and the same goes if they remove more than one layer. The outer layer of the detonator can be decorated how you want, but using silver paper, little red gems and black tape to create details will make it even more realistic.

Star Wars Trivia – An idea for those older Star Wars fans, if you want to introduce a bit of competition into your Star Wars party, then try a game of Star Wars Trivia. You can make up questions yourself, or find some online, the options are endless!

Adults ONLY Raspberry Coconut Storm Trooper Cocktail- This one makes a little treat for the adults whose children have been running around all day. Put them to bed, put your feet up, switch on the television, and enjoy this luscious treat of a Raspberry and Coconut Storm Trooper Cocktail. Find the ingredients on our Pinterest Board. Wedding Traditions-Spain

If you’re thinking of a Spanish wedding theme, spring is the favourite time of year. You may worry that this could be an expensive affair, with around 200 guests at the average Spanish wedding, but fear not, guests are encouraged to give money as a gift, normally a minimum of 75 euros which should hopefully help to cover the costs of such a large celebration. Most Spanish weddings start in the early evening, with the most popular time for the ceremony to be 7pm, and it’s quite common for the guests to party until dawn. The wedding gown ( traje de novia) traditionally had lots of lace decoration to match the mantilla (lace veil) which can be very long. Traditionally the godfather of the bride buys the bouquet, and delivers it with a poem on the morning of the wedding. There are normally no bridesmaids. The groom is escorted down the aisle by his mother, particularly in Catalonia. Rice is thrown after the ceremony, together with rose petals- and don’t be surprised to hear firecra...

The ‘Naked’ Cake Trend

Whilst we look through all the beautiful pictures of weddings and events that grace our Instagram feed, we have noticed a sudden change in tradition. Wedding Cakes have gone commando!  Now if you aren’t sure what I mean by ‘Naked Cake’ it means a cake without any fondant covering.  The classic modern style of a cake covered in simple white fondant, then decorated with themed colours and other beautiful little edible decorations is becoming less and less popular! Couples are turning to a much more rustic and natural cake decoration idea.  Couples can choose how ‘naked’ they want their cake to be as the cake is covered with buttercream instead of fondant icing, showing the sponge cake underneath. The amount of sponge cake to buttercream ratio is something you can decide on. If the sponge cake is only slightly visible, then this is called a semi-naked cake. These are quite popular. You then have the naked cake which can either be covered in a small amount of buttercream cre...

Event Planners v DIY Events

An event planner’s world consists of a vast mixture of occasions, anything from corporate events, weddings, birthday parties, charity events, ceremonies and other celebrations. Along with this comes lots of responsibility such as managing budgets, liaising with venues, theming & styling, arranging food and entertainment and hiring staff. There’s a heap of other aspects that they control too, from security to health and safety.  Event planners have control of events right from the concept all the way to the end of the party to the clean-up, but most importantly they take care of the event and guests! Every detail is thought of-from keeping the drinks cold to the layout of the luxurious decorations. Their experience and imagination is key to ensuring your event is the one to be remembered.  Many event planners have great skills in communication, presenting, customer services, organisation, dealing with pressure, negotiation and problem-solving. These skills will guarantee y...
