Invitations

A magnificent event all starts with having amazing invitations, the better the invitation the better the party. So, when it comes to planning a baby shower make sure you have put time in to creating your invitations.

Gender Reveal
Invite your guests with creativity and style! Ever thought about gender reveal invitations? Get your guests questioning the gender of the baby before baby shower. This is a popular theme as it’s a fantastic way for people to share their exciting news, and it adds an element of surprise to party.

Classic
A popular trend for invitations that you can’t go wrong with is the classic theme invites. This is all about covering your invites with building blocks, onesies, bibs, bottles, nursery rhymes and characters in pastel colours. Be sure to catch your guests attention with this fun and playful theme.

Themes

A baby shower is the perfect excuse to be showered with gifts and love. Many mum’s-to-be mark the occasion with a theme.

Gender Reveal
A fashionable trend for a themed baby shower is the gender reveal. This theme can consist of many ways to tell guests what gender you are expecting.
A fantastic way to reveal the gender is “the balloons in the box”, fill the box with pink or blue balloons or if you don’t want to know the gender before the baby shower get someone else to fill it, most balloon shops are happy for you to get the gender written on a piece of paper after your scan and then give them it, they will keep it a secret from you too!
If balloons aren’t your style how about cupcakes? Get creative by using pink or blue colour dye for the inside of the cupcakes. This is a creative and joyful way of revealing the gender.
Get your guests involved by asking everyone to turn up in either pink or blue outfits, which ever colour they wear is their guess on what the gender of the baby will be. This is a fun theme to get all your guests involved in the baby shower.

Nautical Shower
Celebrate in seaside style for your baby shower by creating a nautical theme!
This classic theme features decorations such as boats, anchors, lighthouses, messages in a bottle and circle life rafts to set the tone for a classic sea theme. Remember the colour scheme, how could you forget! Red, white and blue, these are the colours for you.

Games

If you’re looking for fresh and fun baby shower games, we’ve got you covered! Games add a dash of entertainment for you and your guests whilst making the special day memorable. Here are a few ideas.
How big is her bump?
For an easy game to get the party started “how big is her bump” is a great party starter. Have each guest cut a piece of ribbon to size which they think will fit around the bump. Then try to tie it around the bump, whoever is the closest wins.

Baby In An Ice Cube
The night before the baby shower freeze small plastic babies into ice cube trays so they will be ready for the next day. To play this game each guest will put an ice cube baby in their drink, once the ice cube has melted the guest must yell “My water just broke” in order to win. This is a fun and simple game to start the party.

Who’s that baby?
Before the baby shower asks guests to bring a baby photo of themselves then let the guessing begin. Guests must try and guess who is in each picture, at the end of the game whoever has the most correct answers wins.

Place the baby on the Mummy
This is a spin on the popular pin the tail on the donkey, create a blown-up poster sized photo of the mum to be and stick it on the wall. Then blindfold guests and place in their hands a cut-out picture of the baby scan. Give the guest a few spins then they must walk to the wall and pin the baby on the mummy. The guest closet to the tummy wins!

Wedding Traditions-Spain

If you’re thinking of a Spanish wedding theme, spring is the favourite time of year. You may worry that this could be an expensive affair, with around 200 guests at the average Spanish wedding, but fear not, guests are encouraged to give money as a gift, normally a minimum of 75 euros which should hopefully help to cover the costs of such a large celebration. Most Spanish weddings start in the early evening, with the most popular time for the ceremony to be 7pm, and it’s quite common for the guests to party until dawn. The wedding gown ( traje de novia) traditionally had lots of lace decoration to match the mantilla (lace veil) which can be very long. Traditionally the godfather of the bride buys the bouquet, and delivers it with a poem on the morning of the wedding. There are normally no bridesmaids. The groom is escorted down the aisle by his mother, particularly in Catalonia. Rice is thrown after the ceremony, together with rose petals- and don’t be surprised to hear firecra...

The ‘Naked’ Cake Trend

Whilst we look through all the beautiful pictures of weddings and events that grace our Instagram feed, we have noticed a sudden change in tradition. Wedding Cakes have gone commando!  Now if you aren’t sure what I mean by ‘Naked Cake’ it means a cake without any fondant covering.  The classic modern style of a cake covered in simple white fondant, then decorated with themed colours and other beautiful little edible decorations is becoming less and less popular! Couples are turning to a much more rustic and natural cake decoration idea.  Couples can choose how ‘naked’ they want their cake to be as the cake is covered with buttercream instead of fondant icing, showing the sponge cake underneath. The amount of sponge cake to buttercream ratio is something you can decide on. If the sponge cake is only slightly visible, then this is called a semi-naked cake. These are quite popular. You then have the naked cake which can either be covered in a small amount of buttercream cre...

Event Planners v DIY Events

An event planner’s world consists of a vast mixture of occasions, anything from corporate events, weddings, birthday parties, charity events, ceremonies and other celebrations. Along with this comes lots of responsibility such as managing budgets, liaising with venues, theming & styling, arranging food and entertainment and hiring staff. There’s a heap of other aspects that they control too, from security to health and safety.  Event planners have control of events right from the concept all the way to the end of the party to the clean-up, but most importantly they take care of the event and guests! Every detail is thought of-from keeping the drinks cold to the layout of the luxurious decorations. Their experience and imagination is key to ensuring your event is the one to be remembered.  Many event planners have great skills in communication, presenting, customer services, organisation, dealing with pressure, negotiation and problem-solving. These skills will guarantee y...
